Ross screens ‘Fantastic Woman,’ ‘In Between’

The films “A Fantastic Woman” and “In Between” open March 9 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

A Fantastic Woman” tells the story of Marina after her lover passes away. Instead of being able to mourn, Marina, who is transgender, is treated with suspicion by emergency room doctors, her lover’s family and police.

The battles Marina faces are the same she has spent a lifetime fighting to become the complex, strong, forthright and fantastic woman she is.

“A Fantastic Woman” is rated R for language, sexual content, nudity and a disturbing assault.

In Between” focuses on three roommates from varied religious backgrounds who share an apartment in the vibrant heart of Tel Aviv.

Though very different, each of the three is tasked with the same balancing act between tradition, modernity, citizenship, culture, fealty and freedom.

“In Between” is not rated.
