Regents approve new dental insurance carrier

On June 23 the University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved a tuition rate freeze.

The Board of Regents on Aug. 17 approved the selection of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska as the third-party administrator for the University of Nebraska’s dental plan effective Jan. 1, 2024.

The change from Ameritas follows a competitive bidding process that attracted bids from multiple vendors. A system-wide committee of faculty and staff evaluated the bids with assistance from an outside consultant, Gallagher Benefit Services.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska will also be the university’s health insurance carrier effective Jan. 1. EmpirRx Health will be the university’s pharmacy insurance carrier.

Employees and their families should see minimal disruption with the transitions.

Faculty and staff are invited to contact Human Resources with questions. Additional benefits information can be also be found online.

Detailed information about benefits enrollment for 2024 will be shared in the fall.
