The Glenn Korff School of Music’s Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dave Hall, associate professor of music, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in Kimball Recital Hall.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will also be live webcast. Visit https://music.unl.edu/webcasts the day of the performance for the link.

The award-winning Percussion Ensemble will present a diverse set of works for chamber and large percussion ensemble including “vv” by Juri Seo, “The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows: ambedo” by Annika Socolofsky, “breaking in torrent” by Delanie Molnar, “Gravity” by Marc Mellits and “White Feather” by John Psathas.

The concert will also feature the world premiere of Glenn Korff School of Music graduate composition student John Cope’s aggressive and exciting percussion orchestra work “Hillslope Evolution.” Cope is working on his Master’s in Music Composition and is a graduate teaching assistant in music composition. He received his Bachelor’s in Music Composition with an emphasis in percussion, as well as a business degree, from Texas Christian University.

The Percussion Ensemble has twice won the Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition and performed a showcase concert at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention.
