Paddling trip to help clean Elkhorn River

Campus Recreation is hosting a one-day paddle trip and clean-up of the Elkhorn River. Registration closes June 5.

Campus Recreation Outdoor Adventures is offering a one-day paddling trip on the Elkhorn River June 9. Participants will spend the day on the river, while collecting trash and refuse in the waterway. This is a perfect opportunity to log volunteer hours or to improve the river.

Canoes, kayaks or stand up paddleboards are provided, as well as all gear, transportation, instructors, insurance, permits and meals. Instructors will introduce the basics of paddling before pushing off to navigate this diverse and meandering waterway. The trip is open to University of Nebraska-Lincoln students, faculty/staff and general public. No experience is required. All skill levels are welcome.

The trip will cost $35 for students and Campus Recreation members, and $45 for all others.

The registration deadline is June 5. Participants can sign up online, by phone 402-472-4777, or in person at the Outdoor Adventures Center, Recreation and Wellness Center or Campus Rec Center.
