Members of Nebraska's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute participate in an outdoor ecology course. The program will hold an open house on Jan. 14.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will host a free open house from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel, 333 S. 13th St.

The institute’s courses, special events and travel opportunities are designed for people 50 and older. OLLI creates opportunities for learning, civic involvement, personal growth and fun. Visitors to the open house can join OLLI, register for classes, meet instructors or renew memberships. OLLI offers more than 150 courses and special events each year. Winter Term 3 classes begin Jan. 22.

“OLLI is all about joy in learning,” said Dee Aguilar, OLLI coordinator. “Through OLLI, people can try new hobbies, listen to great teachers give great lectures, take trips that are educational and fun and join others for theater performances, dinners and discussions,” she said.

The open house will also include informational tables with representatives to provide details about courses, events and travel opportunities.

A $50 mid-year membership is valid through July 31. Members also receive discounts from our partners to local theatre and other community events.

Parking for the open house is available in the parking garage adjacent to the hotel and at metered spaces on the streets.
