In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln astronomer will reveal the wonders of a planetary neighbor named for the Roman goddess of love.

Michael Sibbernsen, lecturer in the department, will give the presentation “Venus: The Planet of Love … Or Is It?!” during an open house from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 3 at Behlen Observatory, 35 miles northeast of Lincoln, near Mead. He will explore both the beauty and dangers of “Earth’s twin” with visuals and demonstrations.

If weather permits, attendees also will be able to view the moon, Mars, Uranus and many clusters of stars through various telescopes. Society of Physics students will perform science demonstrations.
