NUtech Ventures, the university’s technology commercialization affiliate, is hosting a free lunch event, “Exploring Career Pathways: PhD to Tech Transfer,” on April 25. It is open to all graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. A Zoom option will be provided.

Lunch will be served starting at 11:45 a.m. in the City Campus Nebraska Union, Platte River Room, and the presentation will begin at noon.

The presentation will be led by Theodoric Mattes, Ph.D., a technology transfer and patent specialist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Mattes will share about his own journey from a pre-veterinary medicine undergraduate researcher at Nebraska, to his current role in technology transfer at the NIAID. He will also discuss a variety of career paths open to graduate students and postdocs, and offer tips for anyone considering their next steps.

Registration is available on the NUtech Ventures website. For those who register for the virtual option, a Zoom link will be emailed by 10 a.m. the day of the event.

Mattes’ lunch presentation is part of a visit co-hosted by the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
