Lucas Novotny has been named the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s executive director of housing. He will join the campus full-time on Aug. 22.

As executive director, Novotny will provide leadership and policy direction for University Housing, which includes residence life, dining services, facilities and operations. Housing is responsible for nearly 3 million square feet of residential and ancillary buildings that exist to build community among students while enhancing student success and well-being.

“As a native Iowan, I never expected to say that, ‘I am a Husker.’ However, the opportunity to be part of such a storied housing and dining program at the flagship institution in the state is something that is extraordinarily exciting for me,” Novotny said. “I can’t wait to begin contributing to the significant momentum occurring in this area.”

Novotny, previously the senior director for housing and auxiliary services at Creighton University, brings more than 12 years of experience in residential housing leadership.

“Lucas brings a wealth of experience and a lot of enthusiasm to this position,” said Laurie Bellows, vice chancellor for student affairs. “He has a strong leadership team; and I’m confident that under his direction housing and dining at Nebraska will successfully advance the strategic priorities of the university.”

Novotny has a Master of Education from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration from Creighton University. He is pursuing a doctorate in interdisciplinary leadership.
