Nomination deadline extended for diversity, equity, inclusion awards

Faculty and graduate students are encouraged to have academic video content professionally captioned.

The nomination deadline for the Nebraska Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Impact Awards has been extended to March 6.

Presented by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the awards recognize individuals and groups who actively advance diversity, equity and inclusion in transformative and sustainable ways at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and beyond.

The awards will be presented at the third annual Nebraska DEI Impact Award Reception on April 10. Nominations, which are due March 6, are open to any person, group or organization demonstrating a commitment to the goals of inclusive excellence. Such actions might include (but are not limited to): Transformative efforts that support and enhance diversity activities and services; working to address issues of inequity through research, activities and efforts; broadening the scope of inclusiveness on the campus; promoting respect for diverse backgrounds and worldviews; and demonstrating advocacy for social justice and intercultural awareness.

Award categories are:

  • Faculty — Diversity Leadership Faculty Award
  • Staff — Diversity Leadership Staff Award
  • Student (Undergraduate and Graduate/Professional) — Promising Leader Award
  • Group — Collective Impact Award
  • Diversity Community Impact Award (new)
  • Diversity Leadership Alumni Award (new)

Nominees must have demonstrated a significant contribution toward creating a diverse and inclusive community through the implementation of policies, research, procedures, initiatives and/or programs reflective of the university’s core values and beliefs.
