A new phishing email that uses “News Release” in the subject line has been directed at University of Nebraska accounts.

The message has been received systemwide and deceptively features campus-specific branding. The email includes a link to a malicious website designed to steal credentials.

Students, faculty and staff who receive the message should delete the email. Do not click on links within the text.

Members of the campus community who clicked the link and attempted to login must change their password immediately and contact a local information technology services support employee for further instruction.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will never ask students, faculty or staff for login credentials via a link in an email. If a login is requested via email, do not click the related link. Learn more about how awareness and caution are key to avoiding phishing scams.
