New DUO Universal Prompt rolling out Nov. 20

Two windows will now open when using Duo on a desktop.
Duo will look a little different, beginning Nov. 20.

Information Technology Services is rolling out Duo’s new browser experience for two-factor authentication.

This new version, Universal Prompt, will impact the look and feel of the authentication screen, increase accessibility, and streamline the verification process. Users will see this new version beginning Nov. 20. The change will not impact the Duo app for mobile devices.

With Universal Prompt, users will no longer need to select an authentication method when they sign into a two-factor authentication-enabled university system. Rather, once users sign into Duo with their SSO username and password, they will receive a browser notification that an authentication prompt has been sent to their registered device using their default method.

Information Technology Services recommends users set Duo Push notifications as their default method. This change can be made under Duo “Settings.”
