For the first time, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is among institutions participating in the prestigious Beinecke Scholarship Program.

The scholarship is open to undergraduates majoring in the arts, social sciences and humanities. Beinecke scholars receive $4,000 immediately prior to entering graduate school and an additional $30,000 for working toward a graduate degree.

Each year up to 20 Beinecke scholarships are awarded nationally. Each of the 136 schools invited to participate are permitted to make a single nomination each year.

To be eligible, Nebraska students must be in their junior year, plan to continue full-time undergraduate study, and expect to receive a baccalaureate degree between December 2019 and August 2020. Eligible students must also have a documented history of receiving need-based financial aid as undergraduates.

To be considered as Nebraska’s nominee for the 2018-19 academic year, students or faculty supporting students can contact Laura Damuth at ldamuth1@unl.edu.

The campus deadline to apply is Nov. 15. The scholarship selection process occurs in early December with final submission in mid-February.
