The University of Nebraska State Museum will host a virtual “Saturday Investigate with a Scientist: Explore Earthlodges” from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Aug. 29 via Zoom and Facebook Live.

September is Nebraska Archeology month, and Morrill Hall will be celebrating Nebraska Archeology with a live, virtual event. Nolan Johnson and Kelli Bacon with History Nebraska, and Rebecca Wiewel with the National Park Service Midwest Archeological Center will share how archeologists find, study and preserve earthlodge sites. Plus, they’ll explore how earthlodges were made and used by the First Peoples of the plains. This program will include a demonstration of how an earthlodge would have been built - you can follow along using materials at home to learn more.

This event will take the place of Sunday with a Scientist for August. Sunday with a Scientist is a monthly event that highlights the work of scientists, while educating children, families and the university community on a variety of topics related to science and natural history. Presenters share scientific information in a fun, informal way through demonstrations, activities or by conducting science on site.
