Diane Mendenhall has been named associate to the chancellor for external engagement at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

The selection was announced July 3 by Chancellor Ronnie Green. Mendenhall, a native of Ogallala, joins the chancellor’s cabinet having worked the last 18 years as an administrative leader with Husker Athletics and the Nebraska Alumni Association.

“I am thrilled to have Diane join my leadership team to oversee external relations,” Green said. “Her knowledge about the university and relationships throughout the state and country will be invaluable in this new role. Diane will help elevate our external engagement strategy and help us capitalize on growth opportunities to meet the goals we have set as an institution.”

As the associate to the chancellor for external engagement, Mendenhall will coordinate activities involving the chancellor with alumni, donors, as well as community and philanthropic organizations. She will also lead planning for the university’s upcoming sesquicentennial celebration.

Mendenhall most recently served as a senior associate athletics director with the Huskers and previously served as executive director of the Nebraska Alumni Association. She will begin her new role July 2.
