Marin Hanson, curator of exhibitions at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum, presents “Everyday Creativity: Finding Connections between African American and ‘Modern’ Quilts” at the Sheldon Museum of Art at 4 p.m. April 14.

The talk, in conjunction with the exhibition “Gee’s Bend: From Quilts to Prints,” is free and open to the public.

Hanson has curated and written catalogs for several exhibitions, including “Quilts in Common: Around the Globe and Across the Centuries” and “Nancy Crow: Cloth, Culture & Context.” Hanson is currently pursuing doctoral research on cross-cultural quiltmaking practices, with particular emphasis on China and the United States.
