Trailer for 'A Love Song'

The film, “A Love Song,” provides a brilliant showcase for veteran actors Dale Dickey and Wes Studi, and is showing at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center Aug. 19.

Continuing is the documentary, “Fire of Love.”

“A Love Song” tells a small, stirring tale with quiet grace. At an idyllic campground in the Colorado Mountains, Faye camps in her trailer. She spends her days listening to birds, catching crawfish from the lake, and scanning her old radio for a station. But most of all, Faye is waiting for Lito, a childhood sweetheart she hasn’t seen in decades. “A Love Song” marks the feature debut of writer-director Max Walker-Silverman.

“A Love Song” is rated PG and is showing through Sept. 1.

From National Geographic Documentary Films comes “Fire of Love,” the extraordinary love story of intrepid French scientists Katia and Maurice Krafft. The pair died just as explosively as they lived — capturing the most spectacular imagery ever recorded of their greatest passion: volcanoes.

For two decades, the daring French volcanologist couple roamed the planet, chasing eruptions and documenting their discoveries. Ultimately, they lost their lives in a 1991 volcanic explosion. Director Sara Dosa and the filmmaking team fashion a lyrical celebration of the intrepid scientists’ spirit of adventure, drawing from the Kraffts’ spectacular archive.

“Fire of Love,” which is rated PG, is showing at the Ross through Aug. 25.
