A launch party for Laura Muñoz’s new book, “Desert Dreams: Mexican Arizona and the Politics of Educational Equity,” is 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Van Brunt Visitors Center.

Muñoz is an assistant professor of history and ethnic studies within the the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Arts and Sciences. In “Desert Dreams,” Muñoz chronicles 75 years of Mexican-American efforts to achieve educational equality in Arizona, from its territorial period to post-World War II. The book is the first comprehensive social history of Mexican Americans in Arizona before 1960.
