"Boy Floating in Water" by Ron Jude is featured in the "Ron Jude: Lago" exhibition at Sheldon Museum of Art.

A talk by Ron Jude, an artist and author, is 5:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Sheldon Museum of Art. The free lecture is held in conjunction with “Lago,” a photography exhibition featuring images by Jude.

For the exhibition, Jude returned to the location of his earliest childhood memories, capturing images of the desert landscape of California’s Salton Sea. In the talk, “Those Are Not Mountains You See,” Jude will address the images from those visits and the narratives they evoke.

The lecture is free and open to the public. A simulcast of the lecture will be available online.

The exhibition “Ron Jude: Lago” is on view at Sheldon through Dec. 31.

Jude’s photographs have been exhibited at venues around the world. His project “Vitreous China” was published by Libraryman in September, while “Alpine Star” will be exhibited for the first time in its entirety at Los Angeles’ Getty Museum in December.

Jude’s visit is organized by Sheldon Museum of Art and the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series.
