Due to academic calendar changes made in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will be open for business on Labor Day (Sept. 7).

Under normal conditions, the university would be shut down on Labor Day, and leave-eligible employees would receive holiday pay. This year, the day will count as a working holiday, similar to President’s Day, Arbor Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day.

All monthly and biweekly employees who work on Labor Day will record a “banked holiday” for hours worked. The day will not count as a floating holiday. This option applies only to leave-eligible employees.

Employees who work Labor Day can contact their department human resources/payroll coordinator for instructions on how to record hours worked as banked holiday.
