“Kedi” opens at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center April 14, and “Personal Shopper” continues.

“Kedi,” directed by Ceyda Torun, is a profile of an ancient city and its unique people seen through the eyes of cats.

Hundreds of thousands of Turkish cats roam the metropolis of Istanbul. For thousands of years they’ve wandered in and out of people’s lives, becoming an essential part of the communities that make the city so rich. Claiming no owners, the cats of Istanbul live between two worlds, neither wild nor tame. They bring joy and purpose to those people they choose to adopt.

“Personal Shopper,” directed by Oliver Assayas, is a mysterious ghost story starring Kristen Stewart.

By day, Maureen, played by Stewart, works as a personal shopper in Paris, motor biking around the city buying up deluxe couture for a jet-setting celebrity client. By night, she attempts to channel the spirits of the dead, hoping to make contact with her recently deceased twin brother.

When Maureen begins receiving a series of sinister text messages, it seems she may have made contact, but doesn’t know with whom. This mystery is an exciting showcase for one of this generation’s most adventurous actresses.

“Personal Shopper,” which is rated R for some language, sexuality, nudity and a bloody violent image, and “Kedi” show at the Ross through April 20.
