The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Jazz Singers will perform a recital, “Bright with Love,” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in Westbrook Recital Hall, room 119.

The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will also be live webcast.

“We’re excited for this concert,” said David von Kampen, lecturer and director of the Jazz Singers. “Jazz Singers will be doing four arrangements, including some seasonal tunes. Dr. Paul Haar is making a guest appearance on saxophone.

The program includes “The Things We Did Last Summer” by Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn, arranged by Zach Yaholkovsky; “Aria (BWV 1068)” by J.S. Bach, adapted by Ward Swingle; “Star of Wonder” by Terre Roche, arranged by Kurt Elling and adapted by von Kampen; and “Some Children See Him” by Alfred Burt/Wihla Hutson, arranged by Kurt Elling and adapted by von Kampen and featuring Haar.

The first half of the program will be special guests, the Nebraska Vocal Jazz Project.

“Nebraska Vocal Jazz Project is a quintet I co-founded last year with some friends,” von Kampen said. “We’re performing at NMEA (Nebraska Music Educators Association) this week and reprising that set for the Dec. 6 concert as well. It’s going to be a great night for vocal jazz in Nebraska.”
