ITS upgrading student Microsoft accounts

Seven CSE students have been named Chancellor’s Scholars.

On Sept. 13, Information Technology Services will be upgrading all student Microsoft accounts from an Office 365 Education A3 license to an Office 365 Education A5 license. Users can anticipate no downtime and won’t need to take any action to utilize the new license.

The biggest difference students will see is they will now have access to Power BI, a business analytics service that can be used to create reports and dashboards. In addition, students will now receive a weekly MyAnalytics email that will provide insight into their work habits based on their Outlook calendar activity. On the back end, this license upgrade will provide additional security benefits to keep your email secure.

More information on the additional resources that will be available after the licensing change can be found on the Microsoft website.

Users of Microsoft Teams may experience downtime on Sept. 13, but access should be available again by morning of Sept. 14.

Please contact ITS at support@nebraska.edu if you have any questions about this change.
