Indie Lens series continues with ‘Tell Them We Are Rising’

Black History Month activities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln continue with a screening of “Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities.”

The event, which is part of PBS’s Indie Lens Pop-Up series, is 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Nebraska Union Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

“Tell Them We Are Rising” explores the pivotal role historically black colleges and universities have played in American history, culture and identity. The film, by Stanley Nelson and Marco Williams, showcases the power of higher education to transform lives and advance civil rights and equality.

Presented by NET, the Indie Lens Pop-Up community film series presents films that confront real-life issues while bringing people together for community-driven conversation.
