‘In the room where it happens’ showcase April 27

Musical Theatre Showcase
The Musical Theatre Showcase will include contemporary and classic musicals.

The 18th annual spring Musical Theatre Showcase will take place 7:30 p.m. April 27 in Westbrook Recital Hall.

The performance is free and open to the public.

‘In the Room Where it Happens’ is fast-paced look inside an audition room where 16 young performers are auditioning in hopes of booking a job to perform on the stage. The stage manager tries to keep them in line, but her best efforts sometimes fail as the young artists have unique ideas of how to get the director’s attention.

This original performance features short audition cuts from musicals ranging from traditional shows like “On the Town” and “110 in the Shade,” to contemporary shows such as “Les Misérables,” “A Chorus Line,” “Hamilton” and “Company.”

Performers featured include graduate and undergraduate students from both the Glenn Korff School of Music and the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film.

Conceived and directed by UNL’s Coordinator of Musical Theatre Studies Alisa Belflower with Louis Claussen featured at the piano.
