Huskers take home 12 Nebraska advertising awards

Andersen Hall

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications had a strong showing at the 2021 Nebraska American Advertising Awards on Feb. 18.

Husker students brought home 12 awards (eight silver and four gold). The winners watched the ceremony virtually at a party hosted by the college.

Each year, the awards recognize the best advertisements and campaigns created by Nebraska businesses and advertising agencies. Omaha and Lincoln members of the American Advertising Federation participate in the event.

The local awards are the first part of a three-tier competition. Local winners compete in 14 district competitions for the chance to advance to the national contest.

Kelli Britten, assistant professor of practice in advertising and public relations at Nebraska, is the president of AAF Lincoln. She organized this year’s Nebraska event, “Get the Green Light.”

“It’s so wonderful to see our students’ work get recognized outside the classroom, especially by the industry,” she said. “These students had to find new ways to work together to create something award-winning — it is a testament to their commitment, great work and resilience.”

Below is the full list of Husker student winners, listed alphabetically by hometown (when applicable) with their year in school, major(s), category or categories and project name(s).
