For the third year in a row, faculty and staff have the chance to participate in “Dinner in a Nebraska Home.”

The program offers international students the opportunity to experience a private dinner in a home and connect with faculty and staff outside the classroom.

“What strikes me every year when I read the surveys is how transformative one dinner can be,” said Teresa Lostroh, a coordinator for New Student Enrollment and organizer of the program. “The conversations before, during and after dinner end up being this profound platform for participants to learn more about their respective countries, cultures and perspectives. I believe it helps hosts and students start to see each other in a different light.”

Students are assigned to faculty/staff hosts in groups of two or three based on availability, dietary restrictions, access to transportation and fears/allergies related to pets. Students and hosts meet for the first time at a reception organized by New Student Enrollment, and then coordinate among themselves to schedule the dinner within three weeks of the reception.

Registration for “Dinner in a Nebraska Home” is open through Feb. 9 and available online.
