Powwow exhibition
Craig Chandler | University Communication

The White Eagle Club and Big Red Sheridan Family Drum performed a tribal powwow exhibition following the unveiling of a larger-than-life-size sculpture of Dr. Susan LaFlesche Picotte, a member of the Omaha tribe and the first Native physician in the United States.

The sculpture dedication was part of the Oct. 11 celebration of Nebraska’s first official Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Chancellor Ronnie Green was among the speakers at the dedication.
