Governance and Tech Center’s lecture series opens Feb. 4

Carnegie Mellon researcher to explore 'Political Economy of Technology'

Lynne Kiesling, an economist and visiting professor at Carnegie Mellon University, will launch the Nebraska Governance and Technology Center’s spring 2021 lecture series with a 2 p.m. Feb. 4 talk.

Her presentation, “The Political Economy of Technology,” will explore the practical interplay between technology, business and policy. The talk is open to students, instructors and staff. Registration, available here, is required.

In her research, Kiesling is focused on regulation, market design and the economics of digitization and smart grid technologies within the electricity industry. She is a visiting professor at Carnegie Mellon’s Department of Engineering and Public Policy and co-director of its Institute for Regulatory Law and Economics. She is also a faculty affiliate of Carnegie Mellon’s Wilton E. Scott Institute for Energy Innovation.

Kiseling also provides advisory and analytical services as president of Knowledge Problem and is an adjunct professor at Northwestern University. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Miami University (Ohio) and a doctorate in economics from Northwestern.
