Giving Tuesday drive can benefit scholarship campaign

The Parents Association executive board is comprised of four officers and two members-at-large.

Giving Tuesday has become a well-recognized addition to the themed shopping days just after Thanksgiving, and this year it falls on Nov. 30. It offers a philanthropic opportunity to support academic institutions and nonprofits.

This year on Giving Tuesday, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is holding its first-ever Huskers Head to Toe scholarship campaign. During the drive, every gift of $60 or more in support of University of Nebraska–Lincoln student scholarships, contributors will receive a pair of Husker socks exclusively designed for this event.

Husker faithful can follow the scholarship campaign and contribute here.

Current Husker student and scholarship recipient Mikayla Shultz said she hopes donors will give in a big way to help students.

“Without the financial assistance that my scholarship has offered, I would not have been able to attend the university,” said Shultz, an advertising and news broadcasting major.

Business student and scholarship recipient Jared Oney said he wants those who contribute to scholarship programs to know they help students in “ways that are unimaginable.”

“To be given a scholarship is an honor and a gift that will never be unappreciated,” Oney said. “Scholarships drive people to actually accomplish something, and the world should know.”

Eligible gifts to the Husker Head to Toe campaign may be made through Dec. 3.
