Taxes have been collected and recorded almost since the beginning of humanity and can be a great source of information for genealogists.

Not only are they often the only indicator of an ancestor’s location and movements, they often reveal quite a bit about his (or her) status, occupation and relationships. Martha Grenzeback, genealogy and local history librarian from the Omaha Public Library, will be the guest presenter on Sept. 16 to guide participants through using tax records for family history research.

Join in the online discussion at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 16. Register to receive the Zoom link.

Genealogy over Lunch is a University Libraries’ group designed to help individuals explore and organize family history, which meets every third Thursday of the month. The group welcomes all faculty, staff and students.
