The Nebraska Alumni Association’s Football Friday series enters its 11th season starting Aug. 30, the night before the Huskers’ season opener against South Alabama.

Football Friday is the official on-campus event to kick off Husker fans’ game-day weekends, welcoming fans of all ages to the Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R St.

The family-friendly programs, 5 to 7 p.m., feature former Husker players, coaches and media members, along with appearances by the Husker Spirit Squad, Big Red Express pep band, Herbie Husker and Lil’ Red.

Admission is free, with food and drinks available for purchase. Alumni association members who attend will receive special gifts.

The 2019 Football Fridays are:

  • Aug. 30: Appearances by former Husker linebacker Jay Foreman, Mitch Sherman of The Athletic, and Shelley Smith and Paula Lavigne of ESPN.

  • Sept. 27 (Ohio State): Appearances by former Husker quarterback Steve Taylor, author and sportswriter Mike Babcock and play-by-play announcer Greg Sharpe.

  • Oct. 4 (Northwestern): Special homecoming edition as part of the Cornstock Festival east of Memorial Stadium. The festival will include musical acts, special guests, food trucks, and Nebraska’s homecoming parade and jester competition. The Football Friday event will include appearances by Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos, men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Rogers.

The guest lineups are subject to change.

The alumni association will also hold Football Fridays on the road before the Huskers’ games at Colorado, Minnesota and Maryland. Learn more.

The Aug. 30 and Sept. 27 Football Fridays will be outside in the Wick Alumni Center’s Holling Garden. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the alumni center’s Great Hall.
