She's a Scientist
Video: She's a Scientist with Nicole Fiore

Welcome to “She’s a Scientist,” a video series launched to highlight the work of female researchers at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Today, we’re showcasing Nicole Fiore and her wetlands search for a microorganism that uses calcium carbonate — a chalk limestone — as its sole source of carbon. Ultimately, the study is directed at seeing if the microorganism could be used as a renewable energy source.

“She’s a Scientist” videos are a regular feature in Nebraska Today. To nominate a researcher for the series, email nebraskatoday@unl.edu or call 402-472-8515.
