The Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services invites all to the Fiesta on the Green, a kick-off for Hispanic Heritage Month.

Fiesta on the Green will be held 5-8 p.m., Sept. 17, on the Nebraska Union Plaza. Fiesta on the Green is an opportunity for the entire university community to learn and experience the rich Latinx culture through various activities.

Activities include a band performance by Son Peruchos, a traditional dance performance by Sangre Azteca, and food by Taco Loco. Additionally, organizations will be represented, including:

• Mexican-American Student Association • Sigma Lambda Beta • Lambda Theta Nu • Lambda Phi Epsilon • Delta Xi Nu • Define American • Latina/o Graduate Student Association • Union Bank & Trust

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The Sept. 15 date is significant because it is the independence day for the Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively.
