Christopher Plummer and Vera Farmiga star in "Boundaries."

The film “Boundaries” is joining “Hearts Beat Loud” on the screens at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

Boundaries” features Laura (played by Vera Farmiga), a single mother who lives in Seattle and is in constant need to put others and animals before her own needs. When her estranged, criminally-minded father, Jack (Christopher Plummer) is kicked out of a retirement home, Laura agrees to drive him to Los Angeles to live with her sister JoJo.

Along for the ride is Laura’s bright but troubled son, Henry, and an assortment of animal charity cases.

Without telling Laura, Jack convinces Henry to help him sell off his copious supply of marijuana at every stop of their journey, resulting in unexpected reunions with old friends and family.

“Boundaries” is scheduled to show through July 26. The film is rated R for drug material, language, some sexual references and nude sketches.

In “Hearts Beat Loud,” Frank (Nick Offerman) is a single dad and record store owner in the hip Brooklyn neighborhood of Red Hook. Frank is preparing to send his hard-working daughter, Sam (Kiersey Clemons), off to college while being forced to close his shop.

Hoping to stay connected through a shared musical passion, Frank urges Sam to turn their weekly jam session into a father-daughter live act. When their first song becomes an online sensation, the duo embarks on a journey of love, growing up and musical discovery.

“Hearts Beat Loud,” which shows through July 26, is rated PG-13 for some drug references and brief language.
