‘Encountering God on this Earth’ event draws multiple speakers

The Department of Classics and Religious Studies is hosting an event, “Encountering God on This Earth,” from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Nebraska Union, Swanson Auditorium.

The event will feature Emily Markides and Kyriacos Markides of the University of Maine, and is co-sponsored by the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Lincoln.

1:30-2:30 p.m. | Lecture: “Religión, Ecology and Peace: the Case of Agia Skepi” by Emily Markides

2:30-3:00 p.m. | Q&A with Markides

3:00-3:30 p.m. | Break

3:30-5:00 p.m. | Lecture: “The Increasing Displacement of Materialism by Modern Science and My Encounter with Mystical Christianity” by Kyriacos Markides
