Employee Wellness and Community Resource Fair is Oct. 13

Exercise

Faculty and staff at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln are invited to connect with campus and local resources while learning about practices for a healthier lifestyle.

Part of the Healthier U initiative, a wellness program designed to support and promote a campus culture of health and well-being at Nebraska, the fair will bring 20 campus resources and nine local partners to campus to engage with employees 8-11 a.m. Oct. 13 at the Coliseum.

“This is a great opportunity to engage with both campus and community vendors and learn about the resources available to them as employees,” Annalisa Mazza, assistant director for employee wellness, said. “This fair is a reason to socialize with colleagues from across campus and possibly meet some new ones. With the fair being set up in a showcase format, it also puts the attendee in control of who they want to talk with and allows them to ask questions tailored to their specific needs.”

Attendees can participate in free blood pressure testing and health screenings as well as learn about faculty and staff services at the University Health Center. Representatives from university partners and Human Resources also will be on hand to answer questions about sustainability initiatives; health and safety; retirement, benefits and insurance; campus communities and more. Five-minute chair massages will also be available.

Local community vendors include Nebraska Orthopaedic Center, Union Bank and Trust, Gomez Art Supply, A Novel Idea Bookstore and Tugboat Gallery. View the full list of vendors.

Individuals who visit multiple vendors to complete a well-being passport will be entered to win door prizes like $150 gift certificates to Tomahawk Axe Throwing and Fleet Feet of Lincoln, multiple gift certificates for spa and beauty services from the Women’s Center of Lincoln and a gold level membership to Sam’s Club.
