The Employee Assistance Program will host the Gottman Institute Seven Principles Couples class, an educational and experiential workshop, Dec. 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nebraska East Union.
The course will be led by Valerie Williams, a counselor and trainer with the Employee Assistance Program. Williams is a certified Seven Principles educator and has completed level one training of Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
The class is designed for any couple in a committed relationship. Topics will include:
Fostering respect, affection and closeness in a relationship
Building and sharing a deeper connection with each other
Keeping conflict discussions calm and breaking through conflicted gridlock
Strengthening and maintaining gains in a relationship
The registration deadline for the course is Nov. 16. A one-time fee of $49 covers educational materials, including two guides, a copy of the “Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work” and Love Maps and Open-Ended Questions card decks.
