Duncan retirement reception is Jan. 18

A retirement reception for Dan Duncan is scheduled for Jan. 18 at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center.

A retirement reception for Daniel J. Duncan, Nebraska Innovation Campus executive director, is scheduled from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center.

The event is free and open to the public. Remarks are scheduled for 4:15 p.m.

Duncan is retiring after 36 years of service at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

“It is bittersweet leaving Nebraska Innovation Campus and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as I have spent most of my life as a student or employee at this great institution,” said Duncan. “I am looking forward to spending more time with friends and family in the coming years.”

Duncan began his tenure with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1987 when he accepted the position of operations manager at the University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. In 1991, he was named the director of the University of Nebraska Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead, Neb. On Aug. 1, 2004, Duncan was named assistant director of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station on a part-time basis. In February 2008, he accepted the position of assistant dean and director of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Agricultural Research Division. On Oct. 1, 2011, Duncan moved into the position of executive director of the Nebraska Innovation Campus Development Corporation.

Duncan was raised on a diversified farm and ranch in Sioux County, Neb. He attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Agronomy, and an Master of Science degree in Agriculture Economics-Agribusiness. Duncan is the past president of the Association of University Research Parks (AURP), a LEAD VII Fellow, a member of the Nebraska Hall Ag Achievement and a member of the Agricultural Builders of Nebraska.
