Rebecca Lai, associate professor of chemistry, will present the next Sci Pop Talk, taking the audience on a discovery of elements in our world that are also in Harry Potter’s world, including gold, silver, mercury, aluminum and silicon.

Her presentation starts at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 in Love Library South, Peterson Room.

The focus will be on the use of these elements in the wizarding world when compared to our world. The talk is free and open to the public.

Lai’s research focuses on developing biosensors for real world applications, and she is known for creating a “Harry Potter x Science” education and outreach program.
