Peggy Deamer, professor emerita of Yale University’s School of Architecture; principal in the firm of Deamer, Studio; and founding member and research coordinator of the Architecture Lobby, will give the College of Architecture’s first Hyde Lecture at 4 p.m. Sept. 6 in Richards Hall, Room 15.

In her lecture, Deamer will examine the importance of understanding the nature of architectural work subjectively, institutionally and economically. She will also explore the work of activism and its importance in making architectural work function better in society.

This year, the Hyde Lecture Series will feature speakers from across disciplines united under the common theme of “Our Work/Your Work — Designing and Planning For Political Engagement.”

The Hyde Lecture Series is a long-standing, endowed, public program. Each year the College of Architecture hosts compelling speakers in the fields of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and planning that enrich the ongoing dialogue around agendas which are paramount to the design disciplines of its graduates.
