Yijun Liao (clockwise from upper left), Richard Wood and Dylan Downes raise a light detection and ranging unit as part of a project to generate a 3D map of Robber's Cave. The local sandstone cave, which features thousands of names etched into its walls, has inspired legends involving Jesse James and the Underground Railroad. The mapping method is being used to digitally preserve the cave, whose soft sandstone is slowly degrading.

Carly Brotherson pulls a sock block outline from the laser cutter at Nebraska Innovation Studio on Nov. 25. Brotherson made the sock blocks for a yarn store, which requested the project through a new 'Request a Maker' button, which matches makers to projects.



Nov. 22 | Cultural exchange

Niyukta Kanjaria performs a traditional Indian dance during the Global Huskers Festival on Nov. 20 in Memorial Stadium. Held as part of International Education Week, the multicultural festival offered the opportunity to explore the world through informational booths, food, cultural décor, art, and a variety of performances. Each booth was hosted by students representing the featured culture/nation.

Students launch confetti from the stairs of the new Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts during a grand opening celebration on the weekend of Nov. 15. Funded by a $20 million gift from the foundation of Tonight Show icon and Husker alumnus Johnny Carson, the center offers students the chance to learn skills in new and emerging technologies for careers in entertainment, film and beyond.

Snowflakes fly as a pair of Huskers engage in a discussion outside the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts on the corner of 13th and Q streets. The duo fluttered away before they could be identified. However, Huskers can stay in touch with details on inclement weather-related shutdowns and campus emergencies by registering for UNL Alert.

Adrianna Vang, a junior in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design, cuts muslin for a bodice she made for a flat pattern course. The department offers four majors and is part of the College of Education and Human Resources.
