Composer, singer-songwriter and pianist Gabriel Kahane will bring his classically influenced folk-pop sound to the Lied Center for Performing Arts’ Johnny Carson Theater, 12th and R streets, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24.

Tickets are available here, by phone at 402-472-4747 or at the Lied Center box office, 301 N. 12th St. Students can purchase tickets at a 50 percent discount with a valid NCard.

Over the past decade, Kahane has collaborated with such artists as Sufjan Stevens, Rufus Wainwright and Punch Brothers. He has become one of the leading exponents of American song, combining a deep interest in character and narrative with a keen sense of harmony and rhythm.

Kahane released his major-label debut, “The Ambassador,” in 2014. His fifth LP, “The Fiction Issue,” came out Feb. 5. He has been commissioned by, among other groups, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Carnegie Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.

An avid theater artist, Kahane starred in the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s stage version of “The Ambassador” in 2014. He also has been the artist-in-residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2014. He is currently writing a new evening-length musical work for New York City’s Public Theater.

The Lied Center performance is sponsored by the Nebraska Lottery.
