Class of 2024 photo becomes digital experience

The first few days of a University of Nebraska–Lincoln experience for new students often kick off with the traditional Tunnel Walk and “Class of” photo at Memorial Stadium, but due to COVID-19, the newest students weren’t able to create the N on the center of the field.

Instead, the New Student Enrollment team partnered with University Communication to provide a “Digital N Experience” for the first-year Huskers.

“We know this class has had many of their most memorable experiences completely canceled due to the pandemic,” said Jennifer Brost, Director of New Student Enrollment. “While this isn’t exactly the same, we hoped the Digital N Experience would be something unique for this class to share. It’s a bit of surprise and we know they deserve it.”

The Digital N Experience includes an interactive mosaic featuring the incoming students’ N card photos that have been tiled across Memorial Stadium. Students, their families and friends are encouraged to find themselves on the field where each photo has a pop-out feature when you zoom and click.

“The class photo is one of the most popular pieces of content shared on social media each year,” said Taylor DeMaro, digital community specialist with University Communication. “We hope our incoming students, their families and our Nebraska Alumni have a chance to share this moment and celebrate what it means to be a Husker,” said DeMaro.
