Clarke is part of a new research effort, the USDA’s Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative. The project will bring together researchers from multiple institutions to better understand how a plant’s or animal’s genes affect its physical traits, or phenome, and how that relationship can benefit crops and livestock.
