Candy innovator, alumna to speak April 11

The Nebraska Women’s Leadership Network invites all alumnae and students to a special event with alumna Tessa Porter (’09, ’18) at the Wick Alumni Center on Tuesday, April 11 at 5:30 p.m.

University of Nebraska–Lincoln alumna Tessa Porter, a candy scientist, will deliver a 5:30 p.m. April 11 talk at the Wick Alumni Center.

The talk, hosted by the Nebraska Women’s Leadership Network, will explore Porter’s work shaking up male-dominated STEM fields, candy development and manufacturing. Porter, founder of the Nebraska-based startup Sprinkk, honed her sprinkle-fueled craft while leading at the Ferrara Candy Company as head of innovation and technology. While there, her team invented the fan-favorite Nerds Gummy Clusters, which won the 2022 Most Innovative Product award.

Porter will share her inspiring story of innovation, courage and conviction that has brought her sweet success as a trailblazer in her field. The event is free and will also be offered via Zoom. Registration to attend via Zoom is available here.

The Nebraska Women’s Leadership Network, formerly known as Cather Circle, is a program of the Nebraska Alumni Association that promotes the growth and education of women leaders with ties to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
