Huskers have the chance to stand with Chancellor Ronnie Green in support of diversity and inclusion.

On Feb. 5, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will host a CEO Action Diversity and Inclusion Pledge event from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts. The event — which is open to students, faculty and staff — will allow individuals to digitally sign the CEO Action pledge, receive a commemorative pledge card and take a photo with the chancellor.

The CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion is the largest chief executive officer-driven commitment in the United States. It is intended to advance diversity and inclusion efforts in the workplace. The movement features a pledge that administrators can sign, signifying that their organization/company is dedicated to creating a workplace where diversity and inclusivity are valued.

Green signed the CEO Action pledge in 2018. The university remains Nebraska’s only higher education institution to join the CEO Action movement. Other Nebraska companies participating are Mutual of Omaha and Union Pacific Railroad.

Huskers who commit to the CEO Action pledge can take a photo with Chancellor Green from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. during the Feb. 5 event. Participants are encouraged to share the photos online using #UNLCeoAction to highlight individuals’ and the university’s commitment to inclusive excellence.

Students, faculty and staff can also sign the pledge online through Feb. 28. The pledge is available on the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion website.

This is the fourth program the university has hosted regarding the CEO Action program. Other activities have included the Check Your Blindspot tour bus event; a Day of Understanding; and the CEO Action Inclusive Excellence Staff Conversations: Check In, Speak Up, Show Up.
