Boeckner retirement reception is Aug. 27

A retirement reception for Linda Boeckner, professor and human sciences program leader in the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences and Nebraska Extension, is 4 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Nebraska East Union, Arbor Suite.

Boeckner recently served for a year as the interim department chair in nutrition and health sciences and has been a faculty member at Nebraska since 1987. She was district director of the Panhandle Research and Extension Center from 2008-2013 and also an extension specialist for many years. She began her career as a staff nutritionist at the Catawba County Health Department, North Carolina, in 1977.

A registered dietician, Boeckner earned bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in nutrition from Nebraska and a master’s degree in nutrition from Case Western Reserve University. She has received numerous awards and honors during her career, including induction into the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement, the Omtvedt Innovation Award from the Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Outstanding Extension Specialist, and the Impact 2000 Award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The reception is free and open to the campus community.
