The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor seeks applications and nominations for the position of faculty director of the University Honors Program. The ideal candidate would be a collaborative and passionate leader for honors education who will position the program to continuing building its national reputation for excellence.

Responsibilities for the position include:

Teach honors courses and maintain office hours within the University Honors Program office. Collaborate with academic colleges and honors partners to develop innovative and interdisciplinary honors curriculum and sponsor faculty interest for teaching within the program. Oversee and update the Honors 102 curriculum in collaboration with the faculty and staff who teach it.
Consult with honors faculty to provide support and resource referrals to address honors students’ needs and concerns. Coordinate professional development for honors program faculty, e.g., workshops, orientations, through collaboration with the Center for Transformative Teaching and other campus units. Participate in weekly honors staff meetings. Represent the program at recruitment and engagement events, e.g., Distinguished Scholars Day, Admitted Student Day, graduation receptions. Cultivate the honors alumni advisory group and other external constituencies.

The position reports to the senior associate vice chancellor and dean of undergraduate education through a .49 FTE faculty position. The term for the appointment is three years and renewable upon the executive vice chancellor’s discretion.

A six-member committee comprised of faculty and staff has been formed to guide the search. The group is chaired by Nick Monk, director, Center for Transformative Teaching. Committee members include Rebecca Baskerville, associate director of experiential and global learning, University Honors Program; Shinya Takahashi, associate professor of practice, nutrition and health sciences; John Shrader, associate professor, broadcasting; Tammy Beck, associate professor, management; and John Carroll, professor, School of Natural Resources.
