Applicants sought for couples course

The Employee Assistance Program is offering a Seven Principles Couples class that begins Oct. 3. The registration deadline is Sept. 19.

The Employee Assistance Program will host a six-week educational and experiential class for couples.

The Gottman Institute Seven Principles Couples class is designed for any couple in a committed relationship. Topics covered include:

  • Fostering respect, affection and closeness in a relationship;

  • Building and sharing a deeper connection with each other;

  • Keeping conflict discussions calm and breaking through conflicted gridlock; and

  • Strengthening and maintaining gains in a relationship.

Classes begin Oct. 3 and the deadline to register is Sept. 19. A one-time materials fee of $49 covers educational materials, including two Couples guides, a copy of the Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, and Love Maps and Open-Ended Questions card decks.

The course will be led by Valerie Williams, an Employee Assistance Program counselor and trainer. She is a certified Seven Principles educator and has completed level one training of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
