Annual benefits enrollment closes Nov. 16

Coverage by new health, dental carriers starts Jan. 1

NUFlex open enrollment, the annual period for employees to enroll in or make changes to University of Nebraska benefits plans, ends Nov. 16.

As announced in May, the university’s health insurance carrier will be UMR, a United Healthcare company, with dental insurance provided by Ameritas. Pharmacy coverage will be provided by CVS Health.

The changes, which go into effect Jan. 1, follow a comprehensive review of the university’s benefits plan.

Most employees will not be impacted by the changes. Employees will retain benefits, and key elements of the university’s benefits plan, including deductibles and copayments, will not change. The new provider networks are virtually identical to the current ones. And, for the ninth time in 11 years, health premiums for medical benefits will not increase.

Additional information about 2019 benefits, including detailed rates, are available online.

The NUFlex open enrollment period is the only time university employees can make benefits package changes during the calendar year. Open enrollment is completed through the Firefly employee portal.

The benefits enrollment guide is available online. Also, links to online sessions — which include presentations from UMR, Ameritas and benefits staff — are available for review.

Employees who have additional questions about the enrollment period, should contact the campus benefits office at 402-472-2600 or in 32 Canfield Administration Building.
